Konecranes has announced that it is now in a position to begin temporary layoffs in Finland.
The company concluded cooperation negotiations with Finnish works council representatives regarding temporary layoffs covering all of the company’s employees in the country, some 2,000 in total. The negotiations were started on 30 March due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The temporary layoffs will be carried out based on the needs of the various business units or functions in the country, with measures to also include options such as shortened work weeks.
Previously, Konecranes stated that the period of the temporary layoffs would be up to 90 days at most during 2020. In addition to Finland, Konecranes has already been active in reducing costs across the full scope of the company’s global operations.
