Airlines for Europe, A4E, the leading association for European cargo carriers, has demanded support from European Union policymakers.
The demands were published in the A4E Air Cargo Policy Manifesto and call for European Union policymakers to support air cargo carriers in their drive towards a more efficient, sustainable and digitised air transport of the future.
The key areas requiring policy support are: further harmonisation among Member States when implementing European Union rules on security and customs practices; more ambitious joint efforts to digitalise the entire logistics chain as well as support for innovation projects and increased sustainable aviation fuel production.
Other points contained in the manifesto include:
- alignment of standards and practices between member states in ACC3
- development of a list of recognised security technologies and methods
- adoption of the Electronic Freight Transportation Information Regulation
- incentivised production of sustainable aviation fuels, and R&D support for greener aircraft
