Amazon hires Sun Country to fly cargo

Amazon has hired Minnesota-based Sun Country Airlines to deliver cargo in a deal that could represent up to 20% of the airline’s business.

The agreement states that  Amazon will sublease ten Boeing 737-800 cargo aircraft to Sun Country, which will then operate the planes on behalf of Amazon under its FAA air carrier certificate.

“Our partnership with Amazon presents a unique opportunity to significantly grow our airline,” commented Jude Bricker, chief executive, Sun Country Airlines.

“While the past two years have been focused on scheduled service growth, this exciting opportunity gives us a chance to diversify even further” he added.
